Situated at the foot of Mount Olympus, the sanctuary of Isis at Dion offers a compelling example of religious exchange in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Here, Egyptian ritual forms were adapted within a Greek sacred landscape, creating a site defined by water, processional movement, and the integration of local and foreign cult practice.

This workshop will examine the archaeological remains of the sanctuary alongside material evidence from the Dion Archaeological Museum, with particular attention to votive objects, sculptural representations, and the spatial organization of the cult.

Drawing on original site footage and close visual analysis of artifacts, the session offers a detailed and grounded exploration of Isis as she was understood and worshipped in this regional context.

Participants will gain insight into the transmission of Egyptian religion across the Mediterranean, as well as the local dynamics that shaped the cult of Isis at Dion.
