About
Join Dr. Carla Ionescu, Artemis scholar and author of She Who Endures, for an immersive 9-week exploration into one of the ancient world’s most enduring and enigmatic goddesses. From her grand temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, to the intricate symbols that adorned her statues, Artemis of Ephesus stood at the heart of political, spiritual, and cultural life in the ancient Mediterranean. Each week blends a focused lecture with guided discussion, primary source readings, and visual analysis of artifacts from across the ancient world. Together, we will trace her origins, examine her fusion with other deities, decode her iconography, and explore her lasting influence on later goddess traditions, including the Virgin Mary. Format: Live on Zoom, Sundays, 12–2 PM Eastern (Oct 12 – Dec 14, 2025). Sessions include a 30–40 minute lecture, guided discussion, and time for Q&A. Who should join: Students of history, archaeology, religious studies, goddess spirituality, or anyone drawn to the sacred feminine in the ancient world. No prior academic background required.
